A recent globalwebindex report reveals Google+ has grown notable to become the 2nd position of Social Network, Exceeding Twitter but its trailing behind Facebook. Googl+’s 2nd place ranking offers marketers a fantastic opportunity to get higher ranking in SERP(Search Engine Results Page).

The report shows 51% of global Internet users in the fourth quarter of 2012 used Facebook at least once a month, followed by Google+ (25%), YouTube (21%), and Twitter (21%). Much of Google+’s success could be linked to its increasing relevance within search results as cited in this SEO Hacker post, which forces social media marketers to get their name or business involved in the social community to leverage personalized search results through a strong social identity.

Sean Patrick Si states in the SEO Hacker post, “Google+ works powerfully and Google has really given their Plus button a big advantage when it comes to their own ranking factors. It’s phenomenal. It’s crazy. It’s Google—and they now have full control. You either join the Plus one club or you lack one precious ranking factor.”

Google+ is becoming a serious influence within the search marketing industry, and it will likely continue its growth trajectory throughout the year. Marketers and brands not already involved in the Google+ community should do so in order to establish a reputation that can make a splash in Google’s personalized search results.
