Microsoft has entered into an exclusive retail partnership with Amazon India. Starting next month, the company’s entire range of Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) portfolio would be available in the country exclusively on This is the first time the company is retailing its products through an ‘online only’ channel in the country.

This will include Xbox One, Xbox 360, Kinect, Xbox Live, Xbox accessories and all Microsoft-published Xbox game titles. The company is also planning to bring local movies, music and on-demand TV as part of its entertainment portfolio for the Xbox Live service.

Chakrapani Gollapali, country general manager, consumer channels group, Microsoft India, said, “We believe this collaboration with Amazon gives us the platform to build scale at an unprecedented level for the gaming and entertainment category in India.”

He said this was the first time that they would be focusing on retailing their products through an online-only channel.

Samir Kumar, director of category management at Amazon India, said the partnership with Microsoft provides them an opportunity to forge deeper engagement with gaming enthusiasts across the country. has also launched pre-orders for Xbox One, which come with numerous freebies. Amazon India has been rapidly expanding the category of products it is present in, launching, on an average, at least two categories each month. This week it launched pet supplies—its 29th category. The flurry of activity comes within days of the company announcing a $2 billion (over Rs 12,200 crore) investment into its India operations.
