Photo of a small weasel on the back of a woodpecker has been around the web. But it is not a beautiful story of friendship: the weasel trying to bite the bird.

You may have seen this picture go these days: the baby weasel hung on the back of a woodpecker taken in Essex, UK, has much more to users who have stepped comments softened and diversions.

Weasel would chew the bird. For while it is tempting to imagine that this little weasel and this bird photographed in Hornchurch park, not far from London, have developed a beautiful friendship, it is not. The author of the photo, the weasel was actually thrown on the bird to kill and eat it.

The woodpecker was then taken off in an attempt to get rid of the little predator. “The woodpecker landed in front of us and I feared the worst. I guess our presence, about 25 meters, momentarily distracted weasel,” wrote the photographer. Result: the bird could fly away and escape the weasel, it is distributed on an empty stomach.
